For Applicant

What Can You Study at TTS?

TTS – The Work Efficiency Institute offers 14 fields of study, allowing you to choose the area and type of education that suits you best, with most opportunities to study in English available in the fields of technology and natural resources.

You can also enhance your skills by taking short courses that last a few days or weeks. In addition, we offer certificate and card training required in various professions, as well as professional qualifications and card renewals.

Employment and recruitment training programs are typically short-term and aimed primarily at unemployed individuals or those at risk of unemployment. These programs do not always lead to formal qualifications. The main goal is to help participants find employment after just a few months of training.

At the start of your degree studies, a personal study plan (HOKS) will be made for you.

Language requirement

At TTS, the language of instruction and qualification is Finnish. To succeed in vocational studies and complete a qualification, students are expected to have adequate Finnish language skills. Depending on the field of study, the required proficiency level ranges from A2.2 to B1.1.

When to apply?

You can apply to TTS at any time that suits you, and studies can begin at various times throughout the year. However, TTS has specific application periods for each qualification.

Every spring, there is a national joint application for recent graduates of basic education who do not yet have a secondary qualification.

Each student receives a personal competence development plan, created together with a teacher or counsellor — sometimes with input from a workplace representative.

Information on the apprenticeship contract

You can do an apprenticeship in any field at TTS. An apprenticeship means learning while working.
Applicants must already have a job in Finland in the field for which they are applying for apprenticeship training.

Most learning happens at work with a supervisor. You also study at school or online.

An apprenticeship is good if your work is changing. It helps if you want to learn new skills. It is for you if you don’t have a diploma.

The people involved are the student, the employer, and the school.
